This is a reportage from my region, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, during the summer of 2016. The images capture scenes of life in frasche, osterie, and small village bars where people spend their time as they did in the early 20th century, but with happiness, friendship, and genuine simplicity. Everyone knows everyone, and even as a stranger, I was welcomed as if they had known me for years. Folks offered me a ‘taglio’ (a glass of wine), chatted with me, and shared tips on other places to visit. Although frasche date back to the time of Charlemagne, they are very hard to find. There are no websites, maps, and sometimes not even street signs. Outside, you might spot a red arrow with a twig indicating a frasca. I had to travel to remote villages in the mountains or countryside and ask locals for information, but in the end, I discovered some unique and emotional places.
The purpose of the report isn’t to provide a “journalistic style” of these locations but to share my poetic and dreamy vision, aiming to tell their story and preserve the memory of these beautiful places.
